Festive Additions To The Singapore Book Of Records In December 2023

On 31 December 2023, Heartbeat@Bedok set a new record in the Singapore Book of Records for the largest silent disco hosted.

At close to midnight, 731 people were dancing to music through provided wireless headphones at the lifestyle hub's free year-end party.

23 December 2023: Largest display of balloon Christmas trees

Chua Chu Kang CC dazzled its residents with a Christmas Balloon Wonderland at the CC's outdoor courtyard.

24 Christmas trees (each about 2m tall) were displayed, along with Christmas symbols like Santa Claus, a gingerbread house, snowmen, candy canes and a mistletoe wreath – all skillfully made by the CCK balloon interest group.

Boon Lay CC celebrated Christmas with a family carnival boasting games, bouncy castles, snacks, and... elves?

That's right, every child who registered at the carnival that day was given an elf's costume to wear. All 93 of Santa's very little helpers were eventually gathered on stage to be counted.

22 December 2023: Tallest Christmas tree decorated with giant baubles

The Star Vista went all out for Christmas last year with the centrepiece of its festive decor. Behold, a 20m tall Christmas tree decorated with 112 baubles of 50cm and 299 baubles of 30cm, with its official light-up on 22 December.

9 December 2023: Tallest Christmas tree decorated with cardboard rolls

A group of youths from the Sengkang East Youth Network who were studying at Temasek Polytechnic spent several months collecting approximately 2000 toilet roll cores with the help of the school cleaners.

They then used these toilet rolls to build a 3.15m tree for Sengkang East Youth Network's Christmas carnival on 9 December, while also decorating it with other recycled items like bottles, bottle caps and newspapers. Talk about turning trash into treasure!
